Alaska Legal Services Corporation is recruiting for a full-time (35 hours per week) staff attorney in Juneau to serve clients experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The attorney will appear in state and tribal court civil proceedings involving family law, housing, consumer protection, public benefits, and health care. The attorney may also help develop new alternative dispute resolution options that are appropriate for trauma survivors.

About the Project: The project is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Violence Against Women. The purpose of the grant is to provide legal assistance to victims of domestic violence to resolve family disputes and other civil matters. The project prioritizes services to two traditionally underserved and vulnerable groups of domestic violence victims: Alaska Native/American Indian victims and victims experiencing disabilities. The project envisions that the attorney works as part of a three person team that also includes an AWARE-based legal advocate and AWARE-based counselor.

Required: Applicants must be admitted to practice law in Alaska or admitted to practice in another state and be eligible for an Alaska Bar Rule 43 waiver. Computer proficiency (Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Internet, e-mail and data entry). Applicants must have experience in working with individuals experiencing trauma, and physical and mental disabilities.

Salary $69,452-$104,179 DOE. Generous benefits and leave package provided, including partial reimbursement of relocation expenses. Personal leave begins at six weeks per year for a full-time employee. ALSC observes 15 paid holidays.
