At ALSC, we are dedicated to providing access to justice for every Alaskan in need. To better serve our community, we have developed a range of programs and projects—often in collaboration with community partners—to address the unique legal challenges faced by Alaskans.
Fair Housing Project:
The Fair Housing Project is Alaska’s only statewide full-service fair housing organization, dedicated to eliminating housing discrimination and ensuring equal opportunity for all. We provide free services to all protected classes, with a focus on underserved populations including Alaska Natives, immigrants, non-English speakers, rural residents, and those with disabilities.
Holistic Defense:
The Holistic Defense Project, in partnership with approved regions of the Alaska Public Defender Agency, aims to assist Alaskans affected by the criminal legal system by addressing their civil legal issues.
Medical-Legal Partnership:
Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) integrates attorneys and paralegals into health care settings to address and prevent health harming social conditions. By collaborating with health care teams, they help screen for and resolve legal issues related to insurance, benefits, housing, education, employment, legal status and safety, aiming to enhance overall health and reduce healthcare use.
