Q1: Why did you choose to volunteer with ALSC?
I believe in giving back to my community and assisting Alaskans when I have the chance. Also, helping people with issues they were facing with their SNAP benefits was personally rewarding to me, as a former single mother who relied on public assistance, including food stamps, at a very critical time in my life.
Q2. How did this experience with ALSC make a positive difference in the lives of others and/or the community?
I benefited from the community justice training offered by ALSC through Alaska Pacific University.
Q3. How will these experiences with ALSC benefit the community in the future?
My training through ALSC and Alaska Pacific University resulted in me learning new skills to serve my community in the future and benefited me professionally.
Q4. What do you do when you are not volunteering with ALSC?
My hobbies include hiking, camping, pack rafting, and epic beach fires with my terrific husband and friends, and generally being bossed around by two thoroughly pampered house cats.
