September 2024 Donor of the Month: Peter A. Michalski

Filed Under: ALSC News, Donor of the MonthSeptember 12, 2024

ALSC’s Donor of the Month for September 2024 is Peter A. Michalski! Peter is a retired superior court judge for the Third Judicial District in Anchorage.  He has been a major donor to ALSC for more than 20 years.  His wife Jo is a successful entrepreneur and businesswoman.  Together they manage the Jo and Peter Michalski Gratitude Fund at the Alaska Community Foundation.

Q1. Why is it important for you to support ALSC?
ALSC is important because everyone needs an attorney at one time or another, and most of those times it will be a civil problem.  And most people don’t have the funds to meet the cost of an attorney. As a judge, it was always better to have the parties represented and to have colleagues who are trained in the law thinking about the problem before the court.

Q2. Which ALSC service or program stands out to you?
The subject breadth of the ALSC is important and is what stands out to me.

Q3. Besides ALSC, which other causes/organizations are important to you?

Among other causes we support are the Smithsonian Institution, The Food Bank of Alaska, The University of Minnesota, The University of Alaska, The Anchorage Museum, the Immigration Justice Project and the Alaska Community Foundation.

Q4. What activities do you participate in during your free time?
I’m not sure about spare time, but we like to spend time with family and friends and enjoy traveling.

ALSC appreciates your continued support Peter and Jo!
