ALSC’s volunteer of the month is Alexandra G. Foote-Jones! A pro bono attorney for many years, Alexandra volunteers with ALSC by providing Probate consultations and helping to organize an annual Wills Clinic.
Why did you choose to volunteer with ALSC?
I volunteer with ALSC because they started a probate clinic program and I have really enjoyed using my area of practice to help individuals navigate what can be a very confusing process.
What are some of your experiences at ALSC that have made a positive difference in the lives of others and/or the community?
I have been able to help heirs inherit or clear up property issues that they previously were unable to resolve on their own. It is a great feeling to be able to explain the probate process to someone and take a lot of the mystery and complexity out of it so that they can make sure their loved ones’ wishes are followed.
How do you think your experiences with ALSC will benefit you in the future?
I have learned so much in working with ALSC about different probate situations and different programs that are available that are related to probate.
What do you do when you are not volunteering with ALSC?
I have an active estate planning, probate and business practice at Durrell Law Group, P.C. Outside of work I love getting outdoors in our beautiful state with my husband and six year old son, sewing and quilting, and endlessly battling slugs and weeds in my vegetable garden.
