This months ALSC Volunteer of the Month is Satrina Lord. Aside from being an ALSC volunteer, Satrina works as a full time Information Management Supervisor for a federal agency here in Anchorage. She is also a wife, mother, and amateur photographer in her free time! Here is more on Satrina:
- Why did you choose to volunteer with ALSC? “I chose to volunteer because I wanted to put my legal knowledge to use after being in an inactive status for several years. I felt that volunteering was a great way to provide a much-needed service to a wide array of people.”
- What are some of your experiences at ALSC that have made a positive difference in the lives of others and/or the community? “During several of my Hotline calls, people consistently express their sincere gratitude for the work that the LLT volunteers do. They express appreciation for the advice and guidance imparted, which helps to equip them with the tools required to negotiate and resolve issues.”
- How do you think your experiences with ALSC will benefit you in the future? “My experience with ALSC will benefit me in the future by helping me maintain a connection to the legal profession, especially if I decide to return to the full-time practice of law.”
ALSC is so thankful for Satrina, and all of our ALSC volunteers and community advocates who help us work to complete our mission in securing civil legal aid for Alaskans in need. Thank you Satrina!
