ALSC’s October Volunteer of the Month is Tracy Dunn! Since beginning to volunteer with ALSC in 2015, Tracy has donated 491 pro bono hours over six cases. Thank you for your hard work, Tracy!
Why did you choose to volunteer with ALSC?
I have always been encouraged to try new things, despite what is comfortable or familiar. Volunteering with ALSC, and being provided a mentoring attorney, has allowed me to learn different types of law, while also assisting clients who would otherwise not be able to obtain help.
What are some of your experiences at ALSC that have made a positive difference in the lives of others and/or the community?
Seeing clients have their voices heard after being unable to get any attention for their issues is very rewarding. Learning of hardships suffered by clients and resolving issues fairly provide positive feelings for all involved.
How do you think your experiences with ALSC will benefit you in the future?
Every time I volunteer with ALSC I get exposed to different areas of law, different attorneys, and different clients. I appreciate any exposure to help broaden my experience as an attorney.
What do you do when you are not volunteering with ALSC?
I have been an empty nester for a while and although I love Alaska and the outdoors, I also enjoy traveling and playing the flute.
