At its August 31 meeting, the Board of Governors voted to publish to the membership for comments proposed Alaska Bar Rule 43.5, which would permit non-lawyers trained and supervised by Alaska Legal Services Corporation (ALSC) to apply for a waiver from the Board of Governors to engage in the limited practice of law in the specific legal areas in which they were trained by ALSC.
The proposed Rule was presented to the Board by the Regulatory Reform Subcommittee of the Alaska Court System’s Access to Justice Committee. The language of the proposed Rule and a supporting memorandum can be found here: Proposed Bar Rule 43.5.
