ALSC would like to thank Mandee for her commitment to helping those in need by volunteering with ALSC! Here is a little more about Mandee and why she is passionate about our work.

• Why did you choose to volunteer with ALSC?  I am a new attorney and when I approached a coworker about possible volunteer opportunities, he shared the positive experience he had while volunteering with ALSC.  
• What are some of your experiences at ALSC that have made a positive difference in the lives of others and/or the community? When a landlord or tenant calls the hotline, I make a concerted effort to make sure they feel like their concerns are heard and taken seriously.  Doing so seems to make callers feel motivated to seek out the resources available to help them better understand their situation and address their concerns. It sounds cliché, but I feel like I make a positive difference when I help callers feel confident in their ability to advocate for themselves. 
• How do you think your experiences with ALSC will benefit you in the future?  Each time I volunteer I get to hone my communication skills and become more familiar with the AK Landlord & Tenant Act. I hope this experience will springboard into more involved ALSC volunteer opportunities. 
• What do you do when you are not volunteering with ALSC? When not working I enjoy DIY home projects, I feed my addiction to true crime podcasts, and spoil my 16 dogs.
