Food Assistance During COVID-19

Can I apply for food stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program SNAP) if I don’t have work due to COVID-19?

If you are experiencing a shortage in food or have been laid off due to COVID-19 and need assistance buying groceries, you may qualify for food stamps. Public Assistance Offices are not providing in person services at this time. However, you may still apply for assistance via email or fax and can call your local Public Assistance Office for more information.

To apply for Food Stamps fill out the application and fax or email it to your local DPA office. For assistance filling out a food stamp application, you may call (907) 222-3119, email snap@foodbankofalaska.org, or text SNAP to (907) 891-8913 and follow the prompts.

Dial 2-1-1 (or 1-800-478-2221) on your phone to hear about additional food resources in your area.
