Alaska Legal Services Corporation is recruiting for a full-time (35 hours per week) experienced attorney to lead ALSC’s Community Justice Worker Resource Center (CJWRC); there may be flexibility for the position to be located in Anchorage or other locations within Alaska. The CJWRC Supervising Attorney is responsible for the administrative functions of the office and the supervision of Community Justice Workers (located throughout Alaska) and support staff dedicated to assisting low-income Alaska residents facing critical legal issues. The Supervising Attorney will shepherd, mentor, and supervise the CJWs as they train for Alaska Bar Rule 43.5 eligibility while simultaneously assisting clients. As such, the position also has responsibility for caseload management and review, maintaining a general caseload including litigation before courts and administrative agencies, the preparation of grant applications and reports, serving as an agency representative in the community, including conducting community legal education, and travel to assigned areas for client services, intake, and community relations.
Required: Minimum of three years legal experience. Applicants must be admitted to practice law in Alaska or admitted to practice in another state and eligible for an Alaska Bar Rule 43 waiver. Computer proficiency (Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Internet, e-mail and data entry).
Highly desired: One year management experience; a demonstrated commitment to serving low-income individuals; the ability to gain clients’ trust; strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage challenging clients and situations in a professional and positive manner; experience working in rural Alaska; and a background working in cross-cultural situations.
Salary $76,967-115,446 DOE and Location. Generous benefits and leave package provided, including partial reimbursement of relocation expenses. Personal leave begins at six weeks per year for a full-time employee. ALSC observes 15 paid holidays.
