Job Opportunity: Intake Staff Attorney

Alaska Legal Services Corporation is recruiting for a full-time (35 hours per week) Intake Staff  Attorney in ALSC’s Anchorage office to triage statewide client needs. The Intake Staff Attorney is  responsible for responding to initial calls from applicants for ALSC’s services, identifying  applicants that are appropriate for ALSC’s services, and assisting in the development of the legal  issues presented. The Intake Staff Attorney will also provide initial legal advice to potential clients  prior to being passed on to the appropriate office for further review. In the case of matters with  which ALSC cannot assist, the Intake Staff Attorney will provide useful information, technical  assistance, and/or referrals to other sources of assistance. 

Required: Applicants must be admitted to practice law in Alaska or admitted to practice in  another state and be eligible for an Alaska Bar Rule 43 waiver. Information on Bar admission or  requirements for a waiver can be found at www.alaskabar.org. Computer proficiency (Windows  operating system, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Internet, e-mail and data entry); and  knowledgeable in providing trauma-informed services. The Intake Staff Attorney manages a  high volume of calls, working effectively in a fast-paced environment with individuals in crisis both  via phone and in-person.  

Highly Desired: The ideal candidate will have prior experience dealing with individuals in crisis; and a background in cross-cultural situations.  

Salary $64,080-96,120 DOE. Generous benefits and leave package provided, including partial  reimbursement of relocation expenses. Personal leave begins at six weeks per year for a full-time  employee. ALSC observes 15 paid holidays.
