Alaska Legal Services Corporation has an opening for a full-time accounting technician (35 hours per week) in its Anchorage office. Major duties include processing semi-monthly timesheets and payroll, tracking staff salaries and benefits, new hire onboarding and benefit enrollments, general account reconciliations, timely payment of payroll taxes, preparation of 941 quarterly tax returns, preparation of W-2’s, preparation of journal entries, and varied required governmental and agency reporting. This position also issues purchase orders, arranges for the procurement of office supplies and other needs, and assists staff and board members with travel arrangements.
At least one year of experience processing a payroll for 50+ individuals is preferred, with a strong preference for an individual who has completed at least one year of university level accounting classes and understands debits and credits. Experience coding timesheets in a non-profit environment with multiple funding sources, and/or experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL is a plus. High school diploma or GED required, as well as computer proficiency. This position requires a very reliable individual with a strong memory, good organizational and analytical skills, who is detail oriented and has the ability to take initiative. Good written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to lift 40 lbs, and climb a ladder to access stored files. Must have a valid Alaska Drivers license, and the ability to pass a criminal background check.
Salary $20.97-31.45 per hr DOE. Generous personal leave and health benefits package.
