Alaska Legal Services Corporation has an opening for a full-time accounting technician (35 hours per week) in its Anchorage office. Major duties include reviewing and processing semi-monthly timesheets and payroll, tracking of staff salaries, raises, and benefits, benefit enrollment and deduction reconciliation, timely payment of payroll taxes and preparation of 941 quarterly tax returns, preparation of W-2’s, preparation of any necessary journal entries, general ledger account reconciliation, and varied required governmental and agency reporting. This position also issues purchase orders, arranges for the procurement of office supplies and assists staff and board members with travel arrangements.
Two years of experience processing a payroll for 50+ individuals is required, with a strong preference for an individual who has completed at least one year of university level accounting classes, and has experience with coding timesheets in a non-profit environment with multiple funding sources. High school diploma or GED required, as well as computer proficiency (experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL is a plus). This position requires a highly dependable individual with a strong memory, good organizational and analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to take initiative. Good written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to lift 40 lbs, and climb a ladder to access stored files. Must have a valid Alaska Drivers license, and the ability to pass a criminal background check.
Salary $15.66 – $22.26 per hour DOE. Generous personal leave and benefits package.
