SUPERVISING ATTORNEY - Fairbanks, Alaska

Alaska Legal Services Corporation is seeking an attorney to supervise the Fairbanks law office.  Responsibilities include supervising office staff, carrying a caseload, handling the administrative functions of the office, caseload management and review, preparation of grant applications and reports, maintaining relationships with local communities, and travel to rural communities in the Interior and North Slope.

STATEWIDE COORDINATOR FOR SENIORS LEGAL SERVICES
Juneau, Alaska


Alaska Legal Services Corporation (ALSC) is hiring a full-time staff attorney in its Juneau office to implement a three year project to increase access to legal services for seniors throughout Alaska.

The position is funded by the federal Administration on Aging and starts immediately.

This position will be responsible for assessing the systemic legal problems faced by seniors in Alaska; developing strategies to meet those needs through direct and indirect services; assessing the feasibility of implementing a statewide Senior Legal Hotline; developing resource materials and publishing relevant articles; collaborating with the various senior service providers in Alaska; data-gathering and grant-reporting; and some direct client representation.
Applicants must be either admitted to practice law in Alaska or admitted to practice in another state and eligible for an Alaska Bar Rule 43 waiver. Information on Bar Rule 43 can be found by the following this link.

Volunteering to help our efforts to provide legal services to all of our community is fulfilling and rewarding. If you are a law student or a paralegal student, this is an excellent opportunity to satisfy your intern requirements.

Internship Opportunities:

Year 2011 Summer Law Clerk Programs:

Alaska Legal Services Corporation will recruit either first or second year law students for placement in one of our eight local offices.

Anchorage, Bethel, Dillingham, Fairbanks, Juneau, Ketchikan, Kotzebue, Nome

Our policy is to encourage students to find an outside source of funding through a grant, fellowship, or work-study program. Due to limited funding, we are unable to pay a salary or reimburse for any transportation expenses that may be incurred en-route to Alaska. An internship with ALSC must be on a voluntary basis or funded by an outside source.
